Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has announced plans to establish a third manufacturing facility in Bidkin City, Maharashtra. The new plant, located in Aurangabad, will focus on producing electric two-wheelers and battery packs, marking a significant strategic expansion for the company.

Ather Energy currently operates two manufacturing units in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, one for battery production and the other for vehicle assembly. The new facility in Maharashtra aims to diversify Ather's manufacturing base, enhancing its proximity to key markets across India and optimizing operational costs. The Tamil Nadu plants will continue their respective roles in battery pack production and vehicle assembly.

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy explained that the expansion is driven by the increasing consumer demand for their scooters and the need to diversify production capabilities to a new location closer to multiple markets in India. He highlighted that the new facility would not only reduce logistics costs but also speed up the delivery of finished products to customers. Jain also expressed gratitude to the Maharashtra government for their supportive policies.

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, welcomed Ather Energy's investment, emphasizing that Maharashtra offers a conducive environment for business and remains a top investment destination. He highlighted that the addition of Ather Energy strengthens Maharashtra's position as a leading automotive and manufacturing hub.
