The report "State of AI in Manufacturing in Taiwan 2024," released by Profet AI, sheds light on the optimal approach to AI adoption in manufacturing organizations. According to the findings, training domain experts in AI applications is crucial as it empowers them to lead AI adoption across the entire workforce.

In today's post-pandemic landscape, manufacturing companies face relentless pressure to reduce costs. Although AI holds significant promise as a solution to this challenge, many leaders remain cautious in their adoption plans. Despite 96% of manufacturers expressing intentions to increase AI investments, only about 29% have incorporated AI initiatives into formal plans or strategies, as per the Manufacturing Leadership Council’s 2030 Industrial AI survey.

The report conducted by Profet AI aims to assess the level of AI adoption and integration into workflows across Taiwan’s manufacturing sector. Based on a survey encompassing 160 manufacturers from 20 different industry verticals, key findings include:

- 76.2% of surveyed manufacturing companies in Taiwan have successfully implemented at least one AI case in the last year, surpassing the global average.

- 80% of employees in Taiwan’s manufacturing organizations report that AI has benefited their work.

- 83% of domain experts acknowledge the current and future benefits of AI in their workflow.

- On average, companies have successfully tested and implemented AI in 26 cases per company.

Taiwan, renowned for its leadership in advanced manufacturing, is a significant player in the semiconductor industry, producing over 60% of the world’s semiconductors. Given its expertise, Profet AI believes the insights from the report can be valuable to manufacturers worldwide.

Jerry Huang, CEO of Profet AI, emphasizes the importance of laying the groundwork to nurture an AI-centric culture. He notes that Taiwan's intense competitiveness in the Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) model has led to some global leaders in AI adoption and digital transformation, setting a standard for the rest of the country.
