Air India stated on Oct 6 that it has opened a mammoth warehouse facility in Delhi to store over 1,000,000 engineering parts used in the maintenance, checkups, and repairs of its aircraft and ground support equipment. The airline stated that the move will improve Air India's fleet and operational efficiency and support India's burgeoning aviation ecosystem.

The 54,000 sq. ft. (approx.) centralized warehouse, located near Terminal 3 at the Cargo complex of Delhi Airport's Air Cargo Logistics division, is intended to facilitate the quick turnaround of the airline's aircraft operating out of Delhi.

"Not only will this world-class facility improve Air India's fleet and operational efficiency, but it will also strengthen India's aviation ecosystem." The warehouse will provide us with better access to and control over our aircraft spares, allowing us to meet any engineering requirement quickly, resulting in increased flight punctuality', stated Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India.

By integrating 16 subscale and scattered locations spread across Delhi and Mumbai into a consolidated facility that will function as a hub and feeder network for operations throughout India, the warehouse will fulfil engineering resource requirements for maintenance and service of the Air India, Air India Express, and AIX Connect fleet from a centralised location.
