Airbus's recent contract award to Dynamatic Technologies, an Indian company, for manufacturing the entire suite of doors for its narrow-body A220 aircraft family underscores a significant step forward for the 'Make in India' initiative in the aviation sector. The contract details, however, remain undisclosed, as per a PTI report.

This pivotal announcement was made during an event attended by key figures including Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi. Dynamatic Technologies, headquartered in Bengaluru, already holds expertise in manufacturing the Flap Track Beam for Airbus A330 and A320 Family aircraft. Notably, this new contract marks one of the largest export contracts for an Indian aerospace manufacturer.

This deal with Airbus represents the second doors-related contract awarded to an Indian supplier, following Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.'s contract in 2023 for manufacturing bulk and cargo doors for the A320 family of aircraft.

Highlighting India's burgeoning stature in aircraft component manufacturing, Minister Scindia expressed confidence in the country's potential, emphasizing the opportune moment for Airbus to invest in India's aviation sector. He also outlined Airbus's aspiration to boost its aircraft component sourcing from India to $1.5 billion, doubling last year's figure of $750 million.

The collaboration between Airbus and Dynamatic Technologies not only enhances India's standing in the global aerospace manufacturing landscape but also aligns with the nation's efforts to bolster indigenous manufacturing capabilities in line with the 'Make in India' initiative.
