Bajaj Auto, a leading global manufacturer of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, has inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil. The opening ceremony was graced by the Governor of the state of Amazonas, along with other dignitaries, dealers, and business partners. This new facility significantly enhances Bajaj Auto's global presence, with the company's vehicles now being sold in 100 countries. With an annual production capacity of 20,000 units in a single shift, the Manaus facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing technology, including sophisticated engine and vehicle assembly and testing facilities.

Covering an area of 9,600 square meters, it is designed to leverage fiscal benefits and proximity to supply chains, taking advantage of the major transportation networks in the region. This strategic placement is expected to optimize operational efficiencies and reduce logistics costs.

The plant boasts automated production lines and integrated quality control systems, ensuring seamless transitions across various manufacturing stages. To streamline operations, the facility utilizes the Protheus ERP system, covering departments such as manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and HR.

Initially, the plant will focus on manufacturing Dominar models, with plans to expand production to include Pulsar models in the future. The construction of the plant began in June 2023 and it became production-ready within a year. The first phase concentrated on sourcing, assembly, and testing of Dominar models, with subsequent phases planned to expand the product lines. The plant has obtained ISO certification for its production processes, reflecting Bajaj Auto's commitment to quality and operational excellence. Additionally, Bajaj do Brasil has integrated local suppliers, sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from within Manaus, further supporting the local economy.

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., emphasized the company's strengthened local capabilities through the new facility. The establishment of the Manaus plant signifies Bajaj Auto's commitment to expanding its global manufacturing footprint and bolstering its market presence in Latin America. The integration of advanced manufacturing technologies and local suppliers aligns with the company’s goal of maintaining high standards of quality and operational efficiency.
