On March 8, 2023, Bharat Forge Limited's E-Mobility subsidiary, Kalyani Powertrain Limited, inaugurated its first E-bike manufacturing facility at MIDC Chakan.
The facility, which has a production capacity of 60,000 units per year and is scalable to 1,00,000 units per year, will assemble E-bikes for Tork Motors Private Limited, which is owned 64.29 percent by Kalyani Powertrain Limited.
On Wednesday, the Pune-based international forging company closed at Rs 835.20 on the BSE, up 0.86 percent.
Nilkanthrao A. Kalyani founded the company on June 19, 1961. It is the Kalyani Group's flagship company, with headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra. The Khed City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Bharat Forge is the largest SEZ in Pune district, spanning 1,000 hectares (4200 acres) in Khed taluka. It was the first company promoted by the Kalyani Group and continues to be the Group's flagship. Baba Kalyani, the founder's son, is the company's current chairman.
Front axle beams, steering knuckles, connecting rods, and crankshafts are among the products manufactured by Bharat Forge. The new strategy is to increase the company's global footprint in lightweight materials. Bharat Forge diversified into a variety of industrial sectors, including oil and gas, infrastructure, and marine, as part of its risk-mitigation efforts. Daimler Group, VW Group, Meritor, and Dana are among BFL's largest customers. In addition, the company works closely with major truck manufacturers.
