Bhutan's DGPC to Collaborate with Adani for Development of Hydel Plant

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani recently met with Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the country's Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) for the development of a 570 MW hydroelectric plant in Chukha province. This collaboration aims to leverage Bhutan's hydroelectric potential and contribute to sustainable energy development in the region.

Expressing his admiration for Bhutan's infrastructure initiatives, Adani praised the efforts driven by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. He highlighted his eagerness to work closely with Bhutan on hydroelectric and other infrastructure projects. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Adani shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Absolutely fascinating meeting with Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Hon. Prime Minister of Bhutan. Signed an MoU with DGPC for a 570 MW green hydro plant in Chukha province. It is admirable to see @PMBhutan advancing the vision of His Majesty The King and pursuing broad-ranging infrastructure initiatives across the kingdom. Looking forward to working closely on hydro & other infra in Bhutan."

Additionally, Adani had the honor of meeting with Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. He was inspired by the King's vision for the nation and the ambitious, eco-friendly master plan for Gelephu Mindfulness City, which includes large computing centers and data facilities. Adani expressed his excitement about collaborating on these transformative initiatives and contributing to Bhutan's goal of becoming a carbon-negative nation.
