Delegates at the BRICS Trade Fair in Midrand heard that BRICS partners have a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of global sustainable development through green manufacturing. The forum's speakers emphasized the importance of developing resilient value chains that promote economic growth while protecting the environment. It was also stated that investments in green manufacturing could foster innovation and drive long-term economic growth.

Ebrahim Patel, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, believes BRICS partners can help accelerate digital and green industrialization.

According to Patel, South Africa is ready to collaborate with all BRICS countries on developing new energy vehicles, technologies, capital, and market experiences in a mutually beneficial partnership.

Patel has invited the BRICS countries to form joint ventures with South Africa and increase investment in green manufacturing.

"The BRICS energy ministers met two weeks ago and agreed on a number of measures to collaborate more closely." These include establishing a centre for industrial innovation and excellence in collaboration with BRICS partners. The third area of collaboration is in the green economy. We are particularly interested in increasing energy security through partnerships in green energy generation, green hydrogen, air mobility, battery manufacturing, and green component production. These components, as well as solar PV and structures, wind towers, and so on, are already manufactured in South Africa."
