Dai Nippon Printing, a Japanese corporation, will generate more than 350 new jobs at a manufacturing unit. It's simply the most recent green energy project to take root in our community. Dai Nippon plans to invest $233 million in the city of Linwood, which is located in Davidson County. This funding will be used to assist develop the company's first manufacturing facility in the United States.
The people who fill such positions will earn more than the county's average salary, according to Davidson County's Assistant County Manager, Jason Martin, who claimed the move will deliver higher paid opportunities to people with a range of skill sets.
"There is an opportunity for people coming out, particularly those coming out of high school and going into community college, to get into a good paying job." "It's simply a good thing for the county," Martin explained. Dai Nippon will produce lithium-ion battery pouches, which are commonly seen in smartphones, laptop computers, and electric vehicles. These batteries necessitate complex manufacturing.
"Advanced manufacturing is dependent not only on your individual hands and skill, but also on some advanced machinery that does part of it, and you have to be in a clean room to make it." "Those jobs typically require more skill sets, which require more training, and thus you get paid more," said Michael Fox, President & CEO of Piedmont Triad Partnership.
Aside from the prospective labor, county officials said the corporation chose our state due to taxation. "The tax rate here is very low, you know, when compared to property taxes in other places." That also speaks favorably of North Carolina, which has a very business-friendly climate. "It's without a doubt one of the fastest growing states in the country," Martin added.
Dai Nippon's Linwood factory would be part of the eye-85 corporate centre, being the second manufacturing facility there after Eggar Wood Products. It is unclear when the facility will be built or operational.
DNP is a company that makes lithium-ion battery pouches for electric vehicles. The EV battery cells will be encased and protected by the sturdy yet soft, flexible plastic packaging material. DNP has been developing and manufacturing packaging for smartphones, tablets, and laptops for almost three decades, offering lighter and lower profile pouches that resist heat and vibrations, protect from water, lengthen battery life, and improve fuel efficiency.
"North Carolina's electric vehicle industry is growing exponentially from east to west," stated N.C. Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. "Our natural resources and our reputation for highly skilled talent and strong transport infrastructure, continue to attract global leaders, like DNP, that share our commitment to sustainability."
