The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is developing a sleeper coach prototype for the recently introduced Vande Bharat (VB) train sets, which have proven popular with commuters. According to B.G. Mallya, General Manager of ICF, this prototype will be ready by the end of this fiscal year.

On Friday, after a media tour of the VB Express train's manufacturing at the ICF, he told a press conference that the Railway Ministry has sanctioned a total of 200 VB Express sleeper coaches and has given orders to the ICF to manufacture 80 train sets.
