The KUKA Institute was launched at the Shenyang Institute of Technology during the ‘2024 KUKA Robotics School-Enterprise Collaboration Conference’. This initiative represents an important advance in promoting collaboration between academia and industry.
The partnership involves the establishment of a cooperation agreement between the Shenyang Institute and KUKA China, the formation of a talent development platform, and the conferral of the respected title ‘KUKA Authorized Industrial Robotics Institute’ to the Shenyang Institute of Technology. Recognized participants at the opening event included Andy Gu, Vice President of the Robotics and Automation Division at Midea Group, Hiki Xu, CEO of KUKA China, Andrew Wang, Product Manager of KUKA China, along with representatives from over 30 top intelligent manufacturing firms, including Foxconn Technology Group and Lingyun Industrial Group.
The recently constructed KUKA Academy spans over 8,000 square metres and features cutting-edge resources, such as KUKA standard training setups, a learning factory, and industrial simulations for digital twins. The facility allows students to acquire hands-on experience in advanced robotics and smart manufacturing systems, ensuring that their academic training closely matches industry needs.
Furthermore, KUKA China sends skilled engineers to equip students with comprehensive insights into the newest technologies and enhance their hands-on abilities. With the involvement of KUKA partner companies, students gain access to outstanding internship and job opportunities, effectively equipping them for the shift to the workforce.
Andy Gu highlighted that the partnership between KUKA China and the Shenyang Institute of Technology is marked by exceptional quality. In the context of China's shift from a manufacturing power to a manufacturing powerhouse, both partners are collaborating to cultivate new talent in intelligent manufacturing technologies. Since the start of the partnership in 2019, KUKA China has employed 30 students from the Shenyang Institute of Technology, several of whom have advanced to important technical roles. This collaboration highlights the university’s dedication to fostering innovation by matching its education with the needs of evolving industries.
