Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd will expand its existing manufacturing facilities in Zaheerabad, Telangana, by establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing facility.
Mahindra & Mahindra will manufacture electric three and four wheelers at this cutting-edge facility as part of its Last Mile Mobility business.
On the sidelines of the first Mobility Next Hyderabad Summit, the Telangana government signed an MoU with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd to establish a manufacturing facility.
The government announced on Thursday that the facility will cost approximately Rs 1,000 crores and will employ approximately 800-1,000 people.
M&M will work with the state government to develop a roadmap for the development of manufacturing units for electric vehicles and energy storage systems in the state.
Industries Minister K. T. Rama Rao welcomed M&M's investment. He stated that M&M's proposed facility will significantly contribute to Telangana Mobility Valley's goal of accelerating the growth of sustainable mobility in India.
“Location at Zaheerabad, one of the 4 Mega EV Manufacturing clusters being developed by the state, will allow M&M to access state-of-the-art infrastructure planned to be created by the state in the mega clusters," he said.
Mahindra & Mahindra's Executive Director (Auto & Farm), Rajesh Jejurikar, thanked the Telangana government for their long-standing partnership. "We are delighted to consider expansion of the current manufacturing unit at Zaheerabad for our new EV Manufacturing investment. "This investment will help us maintain our leadership in the electric three-wheeler category," he said.
