MISTI has teamed up with the Australian Embassy in Cambodia's CAPRED program to jointly organize a workshop focused on enhancing the competitiveness of Cambodia's manufacturing sector. The manufacturing industry has seen notable advancements, but still relies heavily on imported materials, underscoring the importance of increased competitiveness.
In order to address these difficulties, MISTI is utilizing CAPRED's knowledge and its own observations to pinpoint useful tools, policies, and initiatives necessary for expanding the manufacturing industry, strengthening local supply chains, and incorporating small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) into the value chain.
“Cambodia’s manufacturing sector holds immense potential for fueling economic growth and job creation,” stated H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation. “This workshop aims to transform knowledge and insights into actionable strategies that will elevate our manufacturing sector to the next level of development.”
Australian Chargé d'Affaires Andreas Zurbrugg said, “Australia is committed to supporting Cambodia’s economic growth and diversification. By strengthening the manufacturing sector, we are creating opportunities for businesses to thrive and for Cambodians to prosper.”
MISTI is crucial in promoting the industrial growth and expansion of Cambodia in alignment with the government's Pentagonal Strategy. The Ministry's goal is to improve the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector by encouraging entrepreneurial growth, building a national quality infrastructure to help local industries join global value chains, and supporting projects like SME clusters. It aims to decrease dependency on imports, boost job creation, and ultimately develop a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive economy through these initiatives.
