Nothing, a maker of smart devices, announced on Monday that it will manufacture its upcoming smartphone Phone (2) in India, which is set to be released next month. The company will manufacture smartphones at BYD's manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. "Phone (2) will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu, India." Nothing India VP and GM Manu Sharma stated, "The phones manufactured in India will be consumed in India."
With the first version of Phone (1), the company began manufacturing smartphones in India last year. "It is critical for us to have access to the Indian market in order to build demand and manage supplies." We desired to be near the market. Our Phone (1) has been a huge success in India and around the world. "Our demand is so high that we manufacture large quantities right here in India," Sharma explained.
He stated that recycled materials will be used in Phone (2). "We will use 100% recycled copper, steel, tin, and other metals, as well as the 80% plastic used in the Phone (2)," Sharma added. The London-based company is also in talks with additional manufacturing partners to produce its other products. "As we continue to manufacture our phone in India, we will evaluate opportunities for other products as well," Sharma explained.
