Optiemus Electronics has announced its expansion into telecom equipment manufacturing, partnering with Tata Group’s Tejas Networks to produce a wide range of telecom products. This move aligns with the Indian government's push for indigenous telecom equipment design and production. The collaboration will leverage Optiemus' manufacturing capabilities at its Noida facility to produce items such as 4G baseband units, remote radio heads, optical network terminals (ONT), optical network units (ONU), and broadband switches and routers.
A Gururaj, MD of Optiemus Electronics, celebrated the expansion as a significant step in growing the company's manufacturing footprint in the burgeoning telecom equipment sector. The partnership comes at a time when India is increasingly exporting telecom equipment and services globally, with more than $18.2 billion in exports last year.
Tejas Networks, a key player in the Indian telecom ecosystem, has been a trusted partner in the industry for over a decade, designing and manufacturing high-performance networking products used in telecommunications, defense, utilities, and government sectors across 75 countries.
Under the government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, telecom equipment manufacturing in India has exceeded Rs 50,000 crore, with exports reaching Rs 10,500 crore. This has also generated over 17,800 direct jobs, significantly contributing to the country’s "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative. V Sembian, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Tejas Networks, emphasized that adding Optiemus as a manufacturing partner will further strengthen domestic telecom production.
