According to industry sources, RInfra will bet on renewable energy equipment manufacturing to diversify its business. This would be an integrated solar manufacturing unit for the increased production of solar panels and components, which will contribute to India's self-sufficiency in clean energy. RInfra will also set up a battery manufacturing unit for the advanced lithical battery, focused on energy storage solutions for grid applications and electric mobility.
Currently, RInfra has operations in the major infrastructure sectors such as metro rail, toll roads, and power distribution. By foraying into solar equipment and battery manufacturing, the Reliance Group wants to cover the entire renewable energy value chain, providing end-to-end solutions that start from equipment manufacturing and solar power generation. This strategic move is a step up for Reliance Power, which is already focused on renewable energy generation, thus consolidating the group's status in this sector.
Meanwhile, Reliance Power has been incessantly ramping up its presence in renewable energy. Reliance NU Energies Private Limited is unloading the workings of its new clean energy venture under CEO Mayank Bansal, while Rakesh Swaroop is expected to drive operations as COO. Another subsidiary, Reliance Nu Suntech Private Ltd, has signed its first e-reverse auction contract under the Solar Power Corporation of India (SECI) for a solar energy project with integrated battery energy storage capacity of 930 MW.
This is the single largest integrated solar power and battery energy storage system project located in Asia and planning for minimum storage capacity of 465 MW / 1860 MWh, completely charged by solar energy. With the above strategic initiatives, Reliance Group continues to reinforce its leadership in the renewable energy sector in India.
