As per Yonhap news agency, Samsung SDI will collaborate with General Motors to build a battery manufacturing plant.

According to industry sources, the two are expected to sign an agreement on Wednesday to build the factory in the U.S. state of Michigan.

A Samsung SDI official told Reuters that the company is considering various ways to collaborate with multiple OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).

According to the Yonhap report, final details on production capacity and location are still being worked out.

As the Chrysler parent ramps up electric vehicle production, Samsung SDI and Stellantis NV announced plans last year to invest more than $2.5 billion in a new joint venture battery plant in Kokomo, Indiana.
