
Siemens is set to expand its manufacturing capacity in India as part of the Make in India initiative, which aims to cater to both domestic as well as international demand, according to Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Smart Infrastructure. Rebellius while speaking at the Elecrama 2025 event, emphasized that Siemens’ commitment to meeting the increasing needs of power generation, distribution, transmission as well as rail transportation both in India & globally. Siemens has invested over Rs 9000 crore in India, with an additional Rs 1100 crore pledged in November 2023, underscoring its long-term commitment to the country since 2015.
“We aim to expand our manufacturing capabilities under the Make in India program to meet the increasing demands of both local and international markets for energy and rail solutions,” Rebellius stated.
Furthermore, Rebillius also stated that infrastructure ministries are being encouraged for creating a 3-year pipeline of projects with public-private partnerships playing a key role in financing. “Siemens is already a trusted partner in supporting investments and in the Indian government’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047,” he added.
Siemens’ portfolio comprises locally developed solutions for low-voltage power distribution that are not only crucial for India’s electrification future but are also exported worldwide.
