Sika AG (Baar, Switzerland) has launched two new production facilities in Singapore and Xi’an, located in Northwest China. The recently constructed plant in Singapore focuses on producing mortars, while the facility in Xi’an produces a comprehensive range of Sika products, such as tile adhesives, cementitious waterproofing, and flooring solutions. By having both plants, Sika will be able to better meet local market needs while greatly decreasing logistical distances.

The fully automated facility in Singapore will serve local clients in the metropolitan region, which has a population exceeding six million. Although comprehensive urban planning has established numerous green and recreational areas, Singapore is still the third most densely populated nation worldwide. This significant population density generates a robust demand for innovative and sustainable building solutions focused on performance.

The recently opened Xi’an plant is Sika’s second significant facility in China, broadening its presence in northwestern China. The other facility that started operations earlier this year is focused on the northeastern region of the country. With this addition, Sika currently has 35 production facilities throughout the nation.

Philippe Jost, Regional Manager for Asia/Pacific: “Increasing our activities in Singapore and China is a key move in our broader growth plan for Asia. The new facilities will significantly improve our capacity to provide our clients with creative solutions in these two important markets. Moreover, both facilities will enhance Sika’s sustainability efforts by integrating energy-efficient methods and eco-friendly materials into their operations.
