Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has produced 500,000 engines in Chakan at its Pune plant. Taking part in Volkswagen Group's global strategy, the Chakan facility is also crucial for both domestic and export markets for manufacturing powertrains. The new landmark shows the critical importance of India as a producer and exporter.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India celebrates the manufacturing of 500,000 local engines, buoyant for the ‘Make in India’ initiative and global exports, with advanced sustainable powertrain technology.

Adding sustainability and cutting-edge technology to the powertrain portfolio, SAVWIPL has developed the 1.0-litre TSI engine with enhanced exhaust emission technology, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine comes with Active Cylinder Technology to achieve better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Since 2014, the company has been manufacturing engines, putting a great emphasis on localization that follows high-quality standards and slight emission norms. SAVWIPL is committed to continuing investment in modern production methodologies to efficiently and sustainably allow India to expand its footprint into the global automotive market.
