Hyderabad, which is emerging as the world's life sciences knowledge capital, has attracted yet another large-scale investment in the sector.

StemCures, based in the United States, plans to open a manufacturing lab in Telangana focused on stem cell therapy, with the goal of becoming India's largest stem cell manufacturing plant. The facility will be built in phases with an investment potential of approximately $54 million and an employment potential of approximately 150 people.

Dr. Sairam Atluri, Founder of StemCures, made the announcement after meeting with state IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao in Boston.
