
TP Solar Ltd, the solar manufacturing division of Tata Power and a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has reached an important milestone in its renewable energy efforts with the opening of its 4.3 GW solar cell and module production facility at TP Solar Ltd. in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The esteemed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, officially launched the cutting-edge facility, signifying an important achievement in the industrial development of the state. The inauguration event featured distinguished guests such as the Honourable Minister for Industries & Commerce, Thiru T.R.B. Rajaa, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, and Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited.
Besides the Tirunelveli facility, the company runs a top-tier manufacturing plant that was set up in 1992 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This facility, featuring advanced technology, boasts a production capacity of 682 MW for solar modules and 530 MW for solar cells. The new 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility is the largest single-location solar manufacturing site in India, featuring advanced TOPCon and Mono Perc technologies. Created to satisfy India’s increasing need for renewable energy, it will manufacture high-efficiency solar cells and modules, playing a crucial role in the nation’s transition to clean energy.
This facility enhances India's solar manufacturing abilities while also supporting Tata Power's goal of promoting sustainable development and innovation within the renewable energy industry. By generating local jobs, empowering women, and encouraging green entrepreneurship, it is set to act as a catalyst for the economic growth of Tamil Nadu and the clean energy shift in India. The solar panels and cells manufactured at the Tamil Nadu facility will primarily support the company's current projects, thereby enhancing its supply chain.
