Telkomsel, the leading digital telecommunication company in Indonesia, and Pegatron 5G, the 5G business segment of Pegatron, the world's leading electronics company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue 5G smart manufacturing solutions in Indonesia.
With the title of "Enterprise Re-Invented" for MWC 2025, the strategic collaboration aims to drive digitalization in production. The collaboration will be tested at PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia's manufacturing plants, the Batam unit of Pegatron, as an example for upcoming manufacturing solutions with 5G capability in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Telkomsel’s Chief Strategic Planning Officer, Wong Soon Nam, stated, "In our efforts to accelerate digital transformation through the implementation of the latest technology, Telkomsel is committed to delivering 5G-based solutions that not only enhance the efficiency and productivity of industries but also strengthen sustainability aspects. This collaboration is a concrete step in creating a smarter, safer, and more environmentally friendly manufacturing ecosystem through digital technology."
Utilizing Telkomsel's cutting-edge 5G network, the solution will seamlessly embed Internet of Things (IoT) and automation into the production process. 5G's high-speed, low-latency connectivity will maximize operational efficiency, enhance quality control, and allow for real-time monitoring. Such integration is likely to minimize production errors, streamline data-driven decision-making, and facilitate increased mobility in manufacturing environments.
Pegatron’s top executive, CY Feng, General Manager of Pegatron Business Group of Communication Products, added, "Telkomsel's support in implementing 5G Smart Manufacturing at PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia will help us optimize production processes with more advanced automation and improve labor safety standards. This solution also aligns with our strategy to implement smarter, greener, and more sustainable manufacturing."
Apart from the first deployment, Telkomsel and Pegatron 5G will look for further partnership opportunities to develop 5G and IoT-based solutions for other industries. The collaboration is evidence of both firms' commitment to innovation, business effectiveness, and sustainable, labor-safe, and environmentally friendly industrial processes. This initiative is a significant step toward making Indonesia a 5G-enabled smart manufacturing powerhouse and an example for the region's digital industrial revolution.
