Thailand's manufacturing industry expanded for the second consecutive month in June due to strong growth in output and employment, despite slower declines in new orders, as per survey released on Monday. The Southeast Asian nation's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) was recorded at 51.7 last month, up from 50.3 in May, a sign of in general improvement in assembling area execution and the most grounded speed of development in a year, as per S&P global.

A reading on the PMI that is higher than 50 indicates manufacturing sector expansion, while a reading that is lower than 50 indicates contraction. Producers extended both their labor forces and purchasing activity at quicker rates in June as they expanded ability to address a supported increase in backlogged work, S&P Worldwide said in a proclamation.

According to Trevor Balchin, economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, declining new orders remained a challenge as output surged and employment grew at the fastest rate on record. However, the trend showed signs of improvement, with the most recent data signaling a near-stabilization in demand.

"Demand for inputs rose in tandem with higher output, but this boost to purchasing activity did not place pressure on supply chains or input prices, with both broadly stable since May," Trevor said.
