Governor Andy Beshear joined Toyota Boshoku America, Inc. executives, and Christian County authorities today to announce the opening of a new automotive parts manufacturing facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

The global automotive supplier will invest $225 million and employ 157 people in its first "smart plant" location.

The new Kentucky plant will manufacture seat frame mechanism components such as seat tracks, seat recliners, and motors with gears. The 327,000-square-foot structure will take up 48 acres and will open in 2025. Construction on the South Park Development in Hopkinsville began in June 2023.

Toyota Boshoku Corporation President Masayoshi Shirayanagi noted in today's announcement, "We aim to not only create new jobs and invest in a smart manufacturing facility but also to promote a more efficient and environmentally responsible operation." The institution aims to have a beneficial environmental impact on the surrounding community.

"I want to thank the leadership at Toyota Boshoku for this commitment to the commonwealth as we continue to see significant investment in Kentucky's automotive future," Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said in a statement. I am excited to see this organization expand on its strong position in our state. This project is another major triumph for Hopkinsville and the West Kentucky region, resulting in even more fantastic jobs for our folks."

Christian County officials, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and South Western Kentucky Economic Development welcomed Toyota Boshoku’s investment in the area.
