Xiaomi India has announced a collaboration with Optiemus Electronics Limited (OEL) to manufacture audio products in India.
With this collaboration, Xiaomi has begun production of its first locally manufactured audio product at the OEL factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
With this collaboration, the company hopes to increase smartphone domestic value addition by 50% over the next two years.
The move is part of a larger initiative in the artificial internet of things (AIoT) domain, beginning with the localization of wireless audio products, according to a statement from the company.
"This partnership represents a significant milestone in our efforts to accelerate our localisation of products and components in order to bring out high-quality devices that will be 'Made in India' at reasonable prices," said Muralikrishnan B, President, Xiaomi India
With 589 million smart devices connected to its platform as of December 31, 2022 (excluding smartphones, tablets, and laptops), the company has established the world's leading consumer AIoT (AI+IoT) platform.
"We are looking forward to delivering great value through state-of-the-art infrastructure to manufacture Xiaomi products," said Nitesh Gupta, Director of OEL. In Noida, OEL has two cutting-edge manufacturing facilities.
